i saw your longboard painting and i was curious the mediums involved as well as wood and if it affected the board? love your blog too bytheway :)
I mostly used acrylics it takes 2-3 coats for the color to really stand out and be even with no streaks. Its a good idea to have painters tape on hand so you can cover the whole area in not to many strokes. Its also a good idea to use a white primer on the areas that you are going to hit with color before you paint because it will decrease the amount of layers of color you will need. It helps if you have those spongy brushes so you can dab the paint on thus avoiding strokes all together. For the black line work I mix my acrylic black with something like india ink so it has the drying power of acrylic but the fluidity of ink. I only ever painted on decently old boards so destroying them wasn’t really a big deal however the paint didn’t seem to negatively effect them at all. Its also a good idea to re seal them with a few layers of clear acrylic coating when your finished. Hope that helps you out I’m glad you dig my work.
how do you photograph your boards so well? im interested in doing this for my custom boards
I just use a regular point and shoot camera but I make sure to take the picture out side when its sunny out and the sun is at a slight angle. Then I mess with it slightly in photoshop usually just auto correct the levels to make it look more like the board/ less washed out. Then I cut out the board with the polygonal lasso tool and give it a white back ground. if you dont have photo shop and dont wanna spend like a thousand bucks then im pretty sure you could download something like GIMP image editor and it will do the same thing for free. Hope that helps :)
The 96% of the people who read this will not have the guts to reblog this. When Goku dies in the explosion with Cell, he thought of both you and me. If you are part of that 4% that doesn't feel ashamed to love Goku, reblog this. Thank you Goku. I as well lifted up my arms when you asked for energy for the genkidama and as well tried to do the kamehameha wave.
