acendency asked: i saw your longboard painting and i was curious the mediums involved as well as wood and if it affected the board? love your blog too bytheway :)
I mostly used acrylics it takes 2-3 coats for the color to really stand out and be even with no streaks. Its a good idea to have painters tape on hand so you can cover the whole area in not to many strokes. Its also a good idea to use a white primer on the areas that you are going to hit with color before you paint because it will decrease the amount of layers of color you will need. It helps if you have those spongy brushes so you can dab the paint on thus avoiding strokes all together. For the black line work I mix my acrylic black with something like india ink so it has the drying power of acrylic but the fluidity of ink. I only ever painted on decently old boards so destroying them wasn’t really a big deal however the paint didn’t seem to negatively effect them at all. Its also a good idea to re seal them with a few layers of clear acrylic coating when your finished. Hope that helps you out I’m glad you dig my work.
